Use one table per note type
Anki note types can have different field counts and names. Combining them into a single two-column spreadsheet can silently discard information. This bridge creates a separate numbered CSV and TSV for each note type and records the relationship between filenames, note-type names and field order in report.json.
Each table starts with metadata columns for note ID, GUID, tags and deck names, followed by the actual fields. Those metadata columns are not extra Anki fields. When importing a text table elsewhere, choose the destination mapping deliberately. The raw notes-and-models.json also retains model definitions and existing card records so a migration can be reviewed without guessing from a spreadsheet header.
Understand the formula-protection difference
Spreadsheet software can treat text beginning with characters such as equals, plus, minus or at-sign as a formula. The CSV export prefixes formula-like strings with an apostrophe, including strings where whitespace precedes that character. This is intentional protection for spreadsheet use, and it means that the CSV cell text is not always identical to the original field.
TSV and raw JSON preserve the original field text, including leading zeros, HTML, Cloze expressions and formula-like strings. Use those raw formats when exact content matters, and open them with a workflow that does not automatically execute spreadsheet formulas. Quoting preserves separators, embedded quotes and newlines in the exported tables; it is not by itself a defense against formula evaluation.
Keep fields and media together
Copying field text alone does not copy an image or sound referenced by that text. Retain the media directory beside your tables and inspect the filename inventory. The bridge exports stored media bytes under checked flat filenames and flags missing or unsafe package mappings instead of inventing replacement content.
These tables are portable data exports, not an entire collection backup. Text import requires note-type selection, field mapping and an intentional media-placement workflow in the destination application. A supported fresh APKG can transfer notes, templates and media together, but its scheduling is reset. Preserve the original package and test a small representative subset or a temporary Anki profile before replacing a working study setup.
